THE DESIGNER AND THE BRAND

Peter Langner founded his own brand in 1991. The brand is one of the few bridal brands that look forward to new horizons: it appears in more than 20 international countries and it is a protagonist in the American and Asian bridal fashion scene.

What Peter Langner had spread worldwide, in the 30 years of his career, are the Italian excellence, the artisanal work and a fashion that is timeless: all features that come from his strong cultural background.

1. AS TRUE EXPERTS WHAT ARE THE BEST PIECES OF ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE A BRIDE FOR DESIGNING OR CHOOSING HER WEDDING GOWN?
Choosing your wedding gown is an intimate and emotional journey that needs a wealth of instinct, patience, and comparison. The most important thing is to go to your appointments with your mind open to listen to the experts and follow their suggestions. But what always wins in this kind of choice is your heart. Follow your heart and you won't have second thoughts. The choice of your gown is a love matter, it's a feeling, it's pure emotion. Listen carefully but always choose with your heart.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DRESS THAT YOU DESIGNED?

You are asking me to choose between my children which is my favorite child, that is impossible. I think the variety of styles and gowns is what makes our collection unique and special. Every dress has its story.

What I think is a very special gown, from my latest collection, is ESTELLE with its overskirt, because it's interesting and absolutely timeless. It is a grand ballgown kind of gown with a full duchesse silk satin overskirt. But after the wedding ceremony you can detach the overskirt and have a smaller, elegant wedding gown with a very intriguing back in draped tulle.

3. WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO SOMEONE WHEN CHOOSING A HEADLINE ARTIST?

Think carefully about the experience that you want to create for your audience. Close your eyes and imagine what the best outcome looks and feels like when you are standing there in front of the stage and things are actually happening. It’s important to align that vision with an artist who specialises in providing exactly that. Finding a fit is the most critical component because if the artist is placed in a circumstance where he/she cannot succeed by doing what they do well, you will fail. Similarly, a client’s objectives and audience expectations must remain paramount in the selection of the artist, and the buyer should be uncompromising in terms of insisting that the artist is a great fit. Because we cannot adapt or adjust the buyer or the artist finding the fit, a natural fit is the most important criteria.

3. AS A DESIGNER, WHAT DO YOU LOOK TO FOR INSPIRATION?

All different forms of art inspire me: painting, sculpture, architecture, music, movies, and nature are just a few of them, which are constantly in my mind. We try to work around them, with them, and use them.

Another thing that is a great inspiration for me is the fabric: we use many different fabrics in every collection. We do a lot of research and have different people creating our own so that they are exclusive to us.

I have to say, the fabric is the first step of the creation of a Peter Langner gown, the more I get into a texture, print or color that gives me a particular feeling, the more I create wonderful gowns.

"One of my greatest fortunes was finding my amazing staff. They believed and saw where I wanted to go. They stood and still stand next to me beyond benefits and compensation. The passion we share is for sure the greatest help I could ever find."
